First you need to choose whether you want to do investing or trading because these are two different things most of the people mix them up.

So, first you should start by knowing how stock market works whether you want to do trading or investing you should know the basics of stock market. Learn about the primary market, secondary market, IPOs, buying, selling, brokers, exchange, etc. Don’t directly jump on the things which will be difficult for you.

After this if you want to do Investing start learning fundamental analysis, this is the main thing which one should learn about investing along with this you can also learn some technicals, read the news daily observe what is happening around the world and what are the impacts on market of some particular news, and many different things.

After this deep dive of weeks and months into the market you would be able to choose the good stocks for investing.

On the other hand if you want to do Trading don’t jump to options trading first I repeat don’t jump to options trading first most of the beginners jump to option trading in their first step then end up with huge losses and say stock market is all about gambling. Option trading is the thought segment in the stock market. It will make you zero in a couple of days even if you will come with a capital of lakhs and crores.

Generally trading is a difficult as compared to investing. So, you need to do practice first before diving into trading, paper trading is suitable for practicing, the important thing is to believe that you are trading in a real market while you are paper trading. Along with paper trading learn Technical Analysis, Risk management, risk reward ratio, a good strategy on which you will be going to trade etc.

After learning these things and doing paper trading you will be able understand the moves of market the price action and many more things. Then you should try in real market but only in intraday not in options. Start with small quantity, after some months you will be ready for any kind of trading only if you are profitable and you have not any previous losses. If you want to switch to option trading I suggest to do intraday for some more months and slowly increase your capital slowly you will gain much confidence. After this you will be ready for option trading.

Discipline is the main thing in trading if you are disciplined, you follow your rules, you are not greedy, you remain neutral during trading, you accept your losses etc. If you have these qualities more chances are you will survive in the long run.
